La
Cetra d'Orfeo
Founded in 1994 by Michel Keustermans,
the Cetra d’Orfeo ( The Lyre of Orpheus ) is an old
music group which performs works of the 16th to the 18th
centuries. The originality of this group lies in both the
content of their programmes and the lively and readily accessible
way of presenting them to the public.
The group is formed from a faithful base of musicians who
are specialised players on period instruments. The constant
renewal of its eclectic programmes has led to regular invitations
to perform at many festivals in Belgium : Festival
de l’Eté Mosan, Festival de Wallonie, Festival
of Flanders, Printemps Baroque du Sablon, Journées
du Patrimoine, Instrument Museum etc. Abroad: Printemps
des Arts at Nantes, Festival de Sablé. Tours in Bretagne,
Vendée, Alsace, Normandy and the Pyrénées.
Concerts in England, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, India,
Turkey and North and South America.
As well as traditional concerts (concertos, chamber music,
cantatas) its concert-shows crystallise around diverse themes
often associating different artistic disciplines.
Enfer et Paradis (Hell and Heaven) mixes poetry, music,
painting and contemporary dance; Folias gives the word to
madness and the old dances associated with it; La Sirène
et l’Epervier (The Siren and the Sparrowhawk) associates
shadow theatre with a musical tale full of magic; One Charming
Night présents 17th century London theatre and street
music; De bouche à Oreille (From mouth to ear) is
a tasty mixture of drinking songs and poetry about food
which will make everyone hungry to listen; Chi passa per
la Strada is an entertainment on trestles involving dancers,
actors, jugglers and singers in a 16th century Italian street;
La Cigale (The Cicada) is an intimate and poetical show
centred on Jean de la Fontaine… along with many others,
both past and to come! |
